On the brink of a government shutdown, the Senate tries to approve funding but it's almost too late

The U.S. is on the brink of a federal government shutdown WASHINGTON -- The U.S. is on the brink of a federal government shutdown after hard-right Republicans in Congress rejected a longshot effort to keep offices open as they fight for steep spending cuts and strict border security measures that Democrats and the White House say are too extreme. Come midnight Saturday with no deal in place, federal workers will face furloughs, more than 2 million active duty and reserve military troops will work without pay and programs and services that Americans rely on from coast to coast will begin to face shutdown disruptions. The Senate will be in for a rare Saturday session to advance its own bipartisan package that is supported by Democrats and Republicans and would fund the government for the short-term, through Nov. 17. But even if the Senate can rush to wrap up its work this weekend to pass the bill, which also includes money for Ukraine aid and U.S. disaster assistance, it won't pre...

White House preparing for government shutdown as House Republicans lack a viable endgame for funding

The White House has direct federal agencies to get ready for a shutdown after House Republicans left town for the weekend with no viable plan to keep the government funded WASHINGTON -- The White House on Friday directed federal agencies to get ready for a shutdown after House Republicans left town for the weekend with no viable plan to keep the government funded and avert politically and economically costly disruption of federal services. Instead, he's launched a much more ambitious plan to try to start passing multiple funding bills once the House returns Tuesday, with just five days to resolve the standoff. “We got members working, and hopefully we’ll be able to move forward on Tuesday to pass these bills,” McCarthy, R-Calif., told reporters...

Bob Oechsler: Former NASA specialist claimed that the US government has several operational alien spacecraft. NASA whistleblower Bob Oechsler claimed that the US government has operational alien spacecraft. He was a NASA mission specialist in the 1970s and used his knowledge of robotics to investigate UFOs. In addition to several other deep space projects, Oechsler worked on the docking collar for the Apollo-Soyuz project, the first international space mission between the US and Russia. He passed away on June 6, 2020, after battling lung cancer. Oechsler claimed that he had received an invitation to serve as a consultant for NASA’s “Cosmic Voyage Project,” intended to be a traveling exhibit featuring a full-scale mock-up of a space shuttle. An exhibit on UFOs and aliens was planned for the event. He said that he had discussions about the production with senior Pentagon officials. One enthusiastic general suggested “showing an alien/...
